Competition Winners

Vitality UK held a Twitter competition inviting people from all over England to tweet a picture of their netball team for the chance to win 4 VIP tickets to the Vitality Netball Superleague Grand Final in July, and also a coaching session with the England Netball team.

Some of the SNC girls did this, and we were all amazed when one of us won! Vitality UK tweeted Keely from SNC Mayhem and informed her that she'd won the competition!

A couple of the Mayhem girls were already going to the Superleague Grand Final, so joined Keely and others for the game between Wasps and Loughborough Lightning - enjoying watching these women play such an intense game, and looking out for the England team players on court. While this was a great game to watch, we were all extra excited for what else was to come on 23rd August 2018...

We met the England Netball Team!

Slough Netball Club made their own little piece of history after winning the opportunity to meet and train with the Commonwealth Gold medal winning England Roses Netball team. Eight SNC players made the journey to Loughborough University, known as a national sports hub and home to the Roses, to catch up with the team during their latest training camp session and learn from their expertise and knowledge.

Greeted by Tracey Neville MBE, head coach of the team, SNC were then invited to observe the Roses in their world-class pressure training session, focusing on specific elements of game play in preparation for their upcoming international fixtures. An unexpected opportunity then arose for the SNC players to take to the court to participate in some ball drills alongside the Roses, with Tracey Neville herself giving some fantastic direction to our players.

Part of the prize was a Q&A session with Tracey and some of the team, and in anticipation of the excitement levels, SNC were prepared with questions, everything from top tips on court and to how to motivate, however, I don’t think any of us were prepared for just how friendly, relaxed and open Tracey - and the whole team - would be, answering all of our questions and more.

The action packed morning was completed with our own training session, led by coaches from England Netball. Fast and skilful, this was truly an amazing chance to pick up some real tips and consider how to implement them at grassroots level.

Leaving Loughborough, tired but inspired, SNC would like to thank Vitality UK for a fantastic competition, England Netball and all of Roses and coaching staff, and wish the squad lots of luck in the Quad Series, for which they fly to Auckland next week. That World Cup is in sight!
